Burundi’s flag consists of a white saltire that divides the field into alternating red and green areas.
The center of the saltire merges into a white disk, on which there are three red six-pointed stars outlined in green.
The flag symbolizes the unity of the Burundian people, as well as their hope for peace and independence.
The three stars represent the three ethnic groups of Burundi: the Hutu, the Tutsi, and the Twa.
